The pattern took a while to develop so that they fit properly and were easy to put on. I sewed them up out of suede which was surprisingly easy to work with and lined them with pink cotton shirting fabric. The soles and heels were cut from wool felt.
I have often thought that shoe making would be a good occupation for me, since I like to think about shoes a lot. So even though these boots were a lot of work, the work turned out to be very happy work once the boots looked nice and fit correctly.
Here they are happily parading around in their new boots, threatening to dash outside to stomp in some puddles.
